Weekend Worship
Our weekend Lenten series is When Jesus Shows Up, a worship series that proclaims the good news of a Savior who meets us in temptation, need, darkness, and even death—bringing grace, light, and life when we need Him most.
Beginning on Ash Wednesday, the Lenten period reflects the 40 days that Jesus spent fasting in the wilderness before beginning his public ministry. The word “Lent” comes from the Old English word “lencten,” meaning spring.
While the traditions and practices of Lent have changed over time, the main ideas have remained the same for centuries. The practice of Lent has ancient roots in early Christianity, dating back to the first centuries after Christ's death and resurrection. During the early centuries of Christianity, fasting for Lent was very strict, with Christians limiting themselves to one meal per day. These days, some people may choose to fast or give up something for Lent, but this is certainly not required, with some choosing to add positive practices instead, such as personal prayer, reading Scripture daily, and attending Lenten worship on Wednesdays in addition to weekend worship.
The season of Lent remains a reflective one, preparing us for Easter through introspection, repentance, and focusing on God.

Our midweek Lenten theme this year is See His Cross. Each Wednesday at 3:30 & 6:30pm, we are invited to look again at Christ’s suffering, to see the cross with clearer eyes, and to be renewed by the love displayed there.
